How much time does it take to position an implant?
The procedure is usually performed in two stages. First, the dentist fits the implant, which is then left to heal for three to six months, allowing it to integrate with the maxillary bone.
During the healing period, the patient has a temporary prosthesis fitted until the permanent crown is positioned. Today, there is an alternative to the two-stage method where the implant is fitted in a single sitting.
The choice of which procedure to use depends on several factors such as, the condition of the patient’s teeth, the number of teeth involved and the type of teeth being replaced.
These factors also determine the total number of visits throughout the period of treatment.
